Crop production was estimated at SIT 123 469 mio, which was 48% of agricultural production value (in 2005 the share was 50%). The value of fruit increased by 10%; the volume increased by 1.5%, while prices increased by 8.8%. Industrial crops increased by 7%; the volume increased by 1.2%, while prices increased by 5.6%. The value of cereals and vegetables remained at the level of the previous year. The greatest fall (18%) in 2006 was recorded in the value of forage plants. The reason for lower value was decrease in volume by 20%, which was partly replaced by 4% price increase.

Animal production increased by 2.7% - as of a 2.2 % volume decrease and a 2.7% price increase

Animal production was estimated at SIT 126 894 mio, and the share of animals was 62%. In comparison with the previous year equines production increased the most (by 14.3%); the volume increase was 6% and the price increase 7.7%. The value of pigs increased by 8% due to a 4.9 % volume and a 3% price increase. Volume of the cattle, sheep and goats, poultry and other animals decreased in comparison with the previous year. Prices of cattle increased by 8.7% and sheep and goats by 3.1%. Among the animal products a higher volume (by 8.4%) and higher prices (by 1.3%) was reached only by other animal products. The value of eggs was increased by 4.4% because of the 5.9 volume increase. The value of milk increased by 3.2% in spite of lower production level.

Intermediate consumption with SIT 145 963 mio in nominal terms 4.1% and in real terms 0.9% higher than in 2005

The main influence on the increase in intermediate consumption in real terms had the price increase of veterinary services (8.5%) and energy (5.8%). In comparison with the previous year, the value of feedingstuffs (6%), maintenance of materials (5.4%), fertilisers (4.8%), agricultural services and plant protection products (3.4%), increased. Value of seeds (lower consumption), maintenance of buildings (lower volume of work) and other goods and services (lower consumption) decreased in comparison with the previous year.

Factor income amounting to SIT 89 767 mio decreased by 4.3% compared with the previous year

In 2006 decreased in agriculture all income categories. Decrease in factor income was the result of a higher increase of intermediate consumption value as the increase of production value. Other subsidies on production increased by 14% but they did not replace decrease in volume production. Factor income per AWU decreased by 2.3% as a result of lower nominal value and decreased employment.

88 672 annual work units (AWU) employed in agriculture in 2006

In comparison with the previous year, the number of AWU decreased by 1.5%. Unpaid labour stayed at the level of the previous year, while the number of the paid labour decreased by 11.2%.
