Print version

In 2006 the final consumption of energy in households decreased in comparison with previous year. Only exception is electricity. The consumption of households electricity increased for 3.5%.

Final consumption of electricity is still growing

Final energy consumption in households in Slovenia decreased for the majority of energy carriers in 2006. In comparison with the previous year the final consumption of natural gas decreased for 5.2%, heating oil for 5.8% and district heat for 8.5%. Decrease is the result the mild winter and therefore shorter heating season. Only exception is electricity. The final consumption of electricity increased for around 3% in all sectors.

Energy intensity in Slovenia is decreasing

In 2006 the energy intensity on supply side and on final consumption side decreased. Tendency of decreasing in previous years was between 1% and 2% annually. In 2006 the energy intensity decreased for 4.8% on supply side and for 4% on final consumption side. The first reason is less intensive increase of energy demand. On supply side the increase in comparison with previous year was 0.2% and on final consumption side 1%. Major reason for the decrease of energy intensity is the increase of GDP (constant prices EUR 2000) for 5.2%.

Electricity generation from the renewable sources in 2006 covered one quarter of electricity demand

In 2006 the electricity generation from renewable sources comprised 24.5%. Major share in generation had the hydro power plants by main activity (90%), followed by small hydro power plants (5%), autoproducer hydro power plants (2%), and electricity generation from wood, wood wastes, black liquor, and bone dust (2%). The smallest share had the electricity generation from photovoltaic, landfill gas, sewage sludge gas, other biogas and formalin gas, all together 1%.
