GDP 2006 is in nominal terms revised by 2.4% and real growth rate to 5.7%, before 5.2%

Methodological revision of GDP 2000-2006
Data on Gross Domestic Product (GDP), main aggregates of national accounts and employment are revised on the basis of methodological revision according to new and improved data sources and methods used. Data series are completely revised back to inclusive 2000 and the period from 1995 to 1999 will be revised in the first half of 2008. The main purpose of this revision is further alignment of GDP estimates with the European System of Accounts (ESA1995). This revision therefore improves exhaustiveness of estimates and the quality of previous estimates due to new data sources and methods used.

GDP 2006 is in nominal terms revised by 2.4% and real growth rate to 5.7%, before 5.2%
The effect of the major revision on GDP level is on average from 1.8% to 1.9% higher nominal GDP in the 2001-2004 period. In 2000 GDP was increased only by 1.5% and in 2005 by 2.2% or by 0.3 of a percentage point more due to annual routine revision. According to the first annual estimate, revised nominal value of GDP in 2006 was estimated at SIT 7 296 627 million, which is by 2.4% more than GDP was estimated before the methodological revision (SIT 7 126 012 million).
With the methodological revision new estimates of GDP volume growth rates or growth of the economy do not differ significantly with the so far published previous estimates. The exception is 2001 for which new growth rate is 3.1% (before 2.7%). In other years new growth rates are higher by 0.2 of a percentage point at the most from previous estimates: for 2002 3.7% (before 3.5%), for 2003 2.8% (before 2.7%), for 2004 the growth rate was not changed and for 2005 4.1% (before 4.0%). For 2006 the new estimate of growth rate is 5.7% (before 5.2%).

With the methodological revision also illegal and deliberately nonregistering activities in GDP
In Table 3 main revision points are shown. For further harmonisation with ESA1995 inclusion of illegal activities (drugs and prostitution), deliberately nonregistering activities (healing, lecturing at home and other domestic services) and estimates of own-account software production were necessary in the official GDP.
The main purpose of other revision steps was crosschecking and improvement of quality of the existing estimates with new data sources and statistical surveys and with the improvement of methods. With the statistical survey of market rentals in 2003 and with the 2002 Population Census data new estimates for households market rentals and for owner-occupiers were prepared. In the whole period significant increase was necessary for the student work and in the smaller amount also in small enterprises for cash reimbursement for business trips and from 2002 on for honoraria work. Negative correction of output (value added) for subsidies and transfers in kind was necessary for the period until 2003 and with this estimates were balanced with figures from 2004 on. In item 9 all other revision points together with routine revision for 2004 and 2005 are included.
