Tourist arrivals and overnight stays, Slovenia, November 2011 – provisional data

At the annual level, in November 2011 tourists created 7% more tourist arrivals and 7% more overnight stays in tourist accommodations. Health (spa) resorts recorded a little less than a half of all tourist overnight stays.
In November 2011 at the annual level 9% more domestic tourist overnight stays
Compared to November 2010, in November 2011 7% more tourist arrivals and 7% more overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations. In the same comparison there were 7% more arrivals of domestic tourists, who created 9% more overnight stays. The number of foreign tourists arrivals and of their overnight stays was also higher (the former by 7% and the latter by 6%).
In November 2011 most tourist arrivals and overnight stays in health (spa) resorts
In November 2011, the number of tourist arrivals was the highest in health (spa) resorts (36%); these resorts also recorded the highest number of overnight stays, 47% or 12% more than in November 2010. Second placed were seaside resorts, where 17% of all tourist overnight stays were recorded or 7% more than in November 2010. In the same comparison mountain resorts (11% of all tourist overnight stays) recorded a 15% increase in overnight stays. The capital Ljubljana with a 9% share of all tourist overnight stays recorded a 2% increase.
The Austrians, the Italians and the Germans created more than a half of foreign overnight stays in Slovenia in November 2011
Overnight stays of foreign tourists represented 48% of all overnight stays in November 2011. The highest shares were contributed by tourists from Austria (24%) and Italy (21%), followed by tourists from Germany (8%), Croatia (7 %), Serbia (6 %) and the Russian Federation (5%). Compared to November 2010, in November 2011 tourists from Austria created 9% more overnight stays, those from Germany 15% more, from Croatia 11% more and from the Russian Federation 21% more; higher numbers were also recorded for tourists from some other countries. At the annual level the number of overnight stays of tourists from Italy decreased by 1% and of tourists from Serbia by 5%.
Hotels in November 2011 recorded three quarters of all tourist overnight stays
In November 2011, most (77% of all) overnight stays were registered in hotels, followed by holiday dwellings and camping sites (each 6% of all overnight stays), inns (2% of all overnight stays) and private accommodations – rented rooms, dwellings (1% of all overnight stays). Compared to November 2010, in November 2011 the number of overnight stays increased the most in tourist farms with accommodation (by 59%); in youth hostels it increased by 31%, in private accommodations – rented rooms, dwellings by 11% and in hotels by 8%.
In the first eleven months of this year the number of tourist arrivals up by 7% and the number of overnight stays up by 6% over the same period of 2010
From January to November of 2011, 7% more tourist arrivals were registered in tourist accommodations compared to the same period of the previous year. In the same comparison the number of overnight stays increased by 6%. In the first eleven months of this year the number of arrivals of domestic tourists increased by 4% over the same period of the previous year and the number of their overnight stays by 1%. Over the same period of the previous year there were also more arrivals of foreign tourists (by 9%) as well as their overnight stays (by 9%). Methodological note Provisional data are published as indices and shares at the latest at the end of the month for the previous month. They meet the criteria of the quality of official statistical data, but do not meet the quality that can be met with additional statistical procedures. Final data on accommodation facilities, tourist arrivals and overnight stays are published in the SI-STAT Database 55 days after the reference period. Data are based on more complete answers about the phenomenon and analyses; they are published as absolute numbers and at a more detailed level by types of accommodation facilities, statistical regions and types of municipalities (according to their touristic characteristics).
