Public sewage system, Slovenia, 2010 – final data
Tuesday, October 18, 2011, First Release
In 2010, 173.3 million m3 of waste water was discharged from the public sewage system, which is by 2.9 % more than in 2009.
Lower amount of urban waste water generated in 2010 is the result of greater household awareness for water use In 2010, households produced 6.4% less urban waste waters than in 2009.
In 2010, 173.3 million m 3 of waste water was discharged from the public sewage system in Slovenia, of which 0.3% from agriculture, forestry and fishing, 8.6% from industry (of which: mining and quarrying 9.9%, manufacturing 84.4%, electricity supply 3.9%, construction 1.8%), 5.2% from other activities and 34.3% from households, while 51.7% were other waste waters (such as run-off rain water, etc.). Approximately two thirds of waste water discharged from public sewage systems was treated Compared with 2009, 9.4% more treated waste water and 11.6% less untreated waste water was discharged from public sewage systems. In 2010, 73.2% of waste water discharged from sewage systems was treated in treatment plants and 26.8% was not treated. Of the total of 46.4 million m 3 of untreated waste water, 71.2% was discharged into surface water and 28.8% into ground water. Of the total volume of 127 million m 3 of treated waste water, the majority (87%) was directly discharged into surface water and just a small portion of it (13%) was discharged into ground water.
