Public waste removal and municipal landfill sites, Slovenia, 2010 – final data

The amount of municipal waste in Slovenia in 2010 was 422 kg per capita, which means 1.2 kg of municipal waste per capita per day.

Less municipal waste generated
In 2010, 863,877 tons of municipal waste were generated in Slovenia, of which 3.484 tons of hazardous municipal waste. Compared to 2009, the amount of municipal waste decreased by 5.4% while the amount of hazardous municipal waste increased by 2.6%.

Decrease in the amount of waste collected by public waste removal services
In 2010, public waste removal services collected 3.6% less municipal waste than a year before.

They mostly collected other municipal wastes (75.7%), 9% were packaging waste, 8.4% were separately collected fractions and 6.9% were wastes from garden and park.

Decrease in the amount of waste landfilled on the municipal landfill sites
In 2010, Slovenia landfilled 272 kg of municipal waste per capita and 304 kg of all wastes per capita on municipal landfill sites. Compared to 2009, the amount of all wastes landfilled on the municipal landfill sites decreased by 17%, while the amount of municipal waste landfilled on the municipal landfill sites decreased by 11%.

In 2010, the majority of landfilled waste was landfilled on the municipal landfill sites (75.5%), 23.5% of waste were landfilled on the industrial landfill sites and less than 1% of waste were landfilled on hazardous landfill sites.
