Interactive Statistical Atlas of Slovenia

By publishing the Interactive Statistical Atlas of Slovenia, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia adds a new service for users on its website and invites them to explore differences between regions and municipalities with the help of statistical data. Showing statistical data on maps is very important also for users who work in the field of regional development. Our aim is to support regional policy making by presenting statistical data in a clear and concise way. Besides using the Interactive Statistical Atlas of Slovenia, we invite our users to check the Thematic Cartography and the publication Slovene Municipalities in Figures.

How to use the application

A click on the picture below will open the Interactive Statistical Atlas of Slovenia in a new window. The user first has to select an indicator to be presented on the map, using the drop-down menu on the upper left-hand side. The map can be focused to one region by clicking the region or selecting one from the "region" menu. When a region is focused, the chart on the raight-hand side shows only municipalities of the selected region. When moving the mouse over the map, data are displayed, same as when moving the mouse over the chart on the right-hand side. The chart provides options to sort regions or municipalities by alphabet or by rank.

Methodological notes

Area borders of regions and municipalities are shown as they were in the presented year. The only exception is the border between Dolenjska and Spodnjeposavska regions before 2000 - the municipality of Škocjan is included in the Dolenjska region, even though a third of the municipality belonged to the Spodnjeposavska region.

When downloading data, names od regions and municipalities are presented as they were in the first year of data availability for chosen indicator.

"Data not shown" is used where data are suppressed due to statistical confidentiality, bad quality at a lower territorial level or unsuitability of data presentation due to the size range of the phenomenon.
