How to access the data

Eurostat

Latest news releases, information about new publication and statistical tools are available on Eurostat homepage. In the 'Statistics' tab all Eurostat's statistical data and detailed background information, related publications and methodology are accessible. The complete statistical database is accessible from any page of Eurostat's website by clicking on the icon Your browser may not support display of this image. which is placed on the top of the page beside the tabs.

The data are accessible by browsing through 'EU Policy Indicators' and 'Themes' (9 themes with 35 sub-themes). There are two ways to access and extract data: Main tables – predefined tables containing data for key EU policy indicators and Database – data accessible through a self-defined extraction tool. The data can also be accessed via searching by 'Statistics A – Z' or browsing.

Main tables and Database are hierarchically arranged via a tree structure of contents. Lower levels of contents are opened by clicking the sign + until the list of tables appears. To access the data in the pre-defined tables a user friendly Table Graph Maps–TGM (Tables, Graphs and Maps interface) extraction tool is available. The Data Explorer (Data explorer ) is a common tool to extract data in the Database. More information on how use extraction tool is in Demo Tour.

The methodology provides supporting information on aspects such as collection methods, data treatment, classifications and definitions. Metadata in the data navigation tree are as a rule available at higher levels of the tree structure, but can also be available at the level of a single table. The icon  is displayed in case of availability next to the text.
