Most important tasks of SORS as the co-ordinator of activities of national statistics in Slovenia and internationally

Co-ordination and linking of the statistical system, international co-operation, standards setting (methodological, classifications, administrative records), anticipation of users' needs, collection of users' requirements and measuring their satisfactions with output, collection, processing and dissemination of statistical data, R&D in the field of official statistics and last but not least very strong care for data confidentiality are the most important tasks defined by National Statistics Actand applied though statistical programmes. In addition to these tasks, the National Statistics Actimposes on SORS obligations connected with correct interpretation of collected and processed data and responding to cases of coincidental or intentional misuse of statistical data.

Co-operation with the Statistical Society and the scientific-research sphere in improving statistical literacy, broadening the statistical culture, training in the field of statistics and user training ha s a long tradition in Slovenia and important influence on the quality of production and use of statistical data.
