In 2014 about 7% more marine animals were caught than in 2013; yet this is only one fourth of the catch in 2005
Although the catch (landing) of marine products in 2014 was 6.8% higher than in 2013, its total market value increased only by 4.5% in the same comparison. We are also publishing revised data on the landing statistics from 2007 to 2013.

The structure of marine fishing (landing) is dominated by fish products
According to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, in 2014 Slovene fishermen caught (landed) about 254 tons of fresh fish products. In the structure of the catch (landing) fish products dominated with 85% of total catch; molluscs represented 14% and crustaceans only 1%. Compared to 2013, the total mass of caught marine animals (or landed fish products) was 6.8% higher than in 2013. However, the comparison with 2005 shows that both activities (catch of marine animals and landing of fish products) decreased by 75%; compared to 1995 they were down by 86%.

Total value of landing in 2014 only slightly larger than in the previous year
Considering the purchase prices of products (without VAT), the Fisheries Research Institute of Slovenia estimates that the value of fish products landed in 2014 was about EUR 1,287,000. The highest average prices per kilogram of fresh product on the market were achieved by Caramote prawn (EUR 26), and by Turbot and Warty crab (EUR 19).
Other data

On SI-STAT Data Portal are published also the data on discards and marine free time fishing in 2014.

Data revision
Due to the changes in the administrative data source (the Fisheries Research Institute of Slovenia), data on the landing were revised and published on the SI-STAT Data Portal from 2007 to 2013. Changes are small. Data differ from previously published by less than 0.5%, with the exception of data for 2013, which differ by 4.4%. Additionally, we calculated and published the landing statistics for 2006 respecting the methodology valid at the time. SURS also updated the ASFIS classification for aquatic animals and published the data at the lowest level (kg>0) in existent tables without changing the aggregated data.
