In 2014, 6% more passengers were carried in interurban public transport than in 2013.

47.5 million passengers carried in urban public scheduled transport
In 2014, 47.5 million passengers were carried by buses in urban public scheduled transport. The scope of transport remained at the level of 2013, when it increased by almost 12% over the previous year. Seasonal variations are well noticeable in the urban transport: in the cold half of the year, over 4 million passengers are carried monthly; the number drops in July and August to approximately 2.5 million passengers per month. Besides the economic situation, the use of urban transport is also affected by the weather and the changes of habits in the use of bicycles also in the colder part of the year. Since no accurate data are available, this statement can be supported by the increasingly widespread use of the rent-a-bike system Bicikelj in Ljubljana: in January 2015 there were 28,500 regular users with an annual subscription (http://www.bicikelj.si/Bilten/Novice/Z-Bicik-LJI-i-opravili-za-680.000-ur-vozenj-3.1.2015, 29. 4. 2015).
Buses operated on 131 urban routes, i.e. 3 more than in 2013, with the length 1,416 km in one direction of the route. The number of routes is the highest since 2005. Buses used 7.3 million litres of diesel oil; CNG (compressed natural gas) was also used.

More passengers in interurban public scheduled transport
In 2014, 26.4 million passengers were carried by buses in interurban public scheduled transport (6.5% more than in 2013). Three quarters of passengers were carried over the distances of up to 20 kilometres, 21.4% over the distances of 21-50 kilometres, and the rest over longer distances. In interurban transport the number of passenger kilometres travelled was 461.6 million (4.8% more than in 2013). In comparison with the previous year the shares of passenger kilometres by distances did not change substantially; most of the passenger kilometres were travelled over the distances of up to 20 kilometres and 21-50 kilometres (48.0% and 34.3%, respectively).

Buses operated on 1,769 interurban routes (1,777 in 2013), drove on scheduled routes 46.9 million kilometres, and used around 15 million litres of diesel oil.

Fewer passengers in international public scheduled transport

In 2014, around 260,000 passengers were carried by buses in international public scheduled transport (16.1% fewer than in 2013). Two thirds of passengers were carried over the distances of 21-50 kilometres. The number of passenger kilometres travelled was around 15 million (20% less than in 2013).

In 2014, buses operated on 25 international routes (4 fewer than in 2013), some of them were seasonal, drove over 810,000 km, and used around 237,000 litres of diesel oil.
