Trade in goods in April 2018 higher than in April 2017

In the January-April 2018 period Slovenian exports increased by 11.6% and imports by 10.7% over the same period of 2017.

Exports and imports in April 2018 higher than in April 2017

Slovenia’s exports in April 2018 were 14.3% higher than in April 2017 (amounting to EUR 2.5 billion), while imports were 13.6% higher (amounting to EUR 2.4 billion). The value of both exports and imports also increased in April 2018 compared to average values of monthly exports and imports in the past year (exports by 5.9% and imports by 3.7%).

In April 2018 the surplus in trade in goods amounted to EUR 109.5 million. The export/import ratio was 104.6%.

Trade in goods with EU Member States in April 2018 higher than in April 2017

In April 2018 Slovenia generated 78.2% of all exports and 82.2% of all imports in trade with the EU Member States. The value of goods exported to EU Member States in April 2018 amounted to EUR 1.9 billion and of goods imported from EU Member States to EUR 2.0 billion (this means a deficit in trade with the EU Member States of EUR 9.6 million). Exports to EU Member States in the mentioned period thus increased by 15.9% and imports by 15.7% compared to April 2017.

The value of goods exported to EU non-member countries in April 2018 amounted to EUR 543.0 million and of goods imported from EU non-member countries to EUR 423.9 million (the surplus of EUR 119.1 million). Exports to EU non-member countries in the mentioned period thus increased by 9.1% and imports by 4.6% compared to April 2017.

In the first four months of 2018 Slovenia’s trade in goods increased over the same period of 2017

Slovenia’s exports in the first four months of 2018 amounted to EUR 10.1 billion (an 11.6% increase over the same period of 2017), and imports to EUR 9.7 billion (a 10.7% increase over the same period of 2017). The external trade surplus in the first quarter of 2018 was EUR 317.9 million and the export/import ratio was 103.3%. The most important export items in this period were from the group motor cars and other motor vehicles and the group medicaments, while the most important import products were from the group motor cars and other motor vehicles and the group petroleum oil and oils obtained from bituminous minerals.
