Investment for environmental protection in 2016 the lowest in the past three years
In the 2014–2016 period gross investment for environmental protection was the highest in 2015 when it amounted to EUR 442 million, and the lowest in 2016 when it amounted to EUR 212 million; mainly due to the fall in investment generated by public administration, defence and compulsory social security. Gross investment in 2016 was almost 52% lower than in 2015 and 48% lower than in 2014. The highest share in the structure of gross investment for environmental protection in 2016 was for waste management, namely almost 43% (EUR 92 million). Compared to 2010, investment for environmental protection in 2016 was 48% lower.

Current expenditure for environmental protection in 2016 the highest in the past three years
In 2016, current expenditure for environmental protection amounted to EUR 505 million or 1% more than in 2015 (EUR 501 million) and 2% more than in 2014 (EUR 496 million). The highest share in the structure of current expenditure for environmental protection for 2016 was for waste management, namely almost 61% (EUR 308 million). Compared to 2010, current expenditure for environmental protection in 2016 was 19% higher.

The highest share of investments in the end-of-pipe technologies
In the structure of gross investment for environmental protection in industry (sections of activity B, C, D) the share of end-of-pipe investment for environmental protection was 63% and the share of investment in integrated technologies was 37%.

The highest gross investment and current expenditure in the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region
The regional structure of gross investment for environmental protection shows that the highest share of gross investment was contributed by the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region (46%), followed by Spodnjeposavska (13%) and Savinjska (9%) statistical regions. The highest share of current expenditure for environmental protection was contributed by the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region (32%), followed by Podravska (16%) and Savinjska (11%) statistical regions.
