In the third quarter of 2017, 20.7% of employers were seeking new labour force

In the third quarter of 2017 around 1,100 more job vacancies were registered in Slovenia than in the previous quarter. The number of occupied post increased by almost 4,600, while the job vacancy rate went up by 0.1 of a percentage point.

6.9% more job vacancies

In the third quarter of 2017 almost 17,300 job vacancies were advertised in Slovenia, which is 6.9% (or 1,100) more than in the previous quarter. As in the previous quarter, most of the job vacancies were advertised in manufacturing (around 4,500) and in construction (almost 3,200).
In this quarter employers with 10 or more persons in paid employment advertised slightly more than 10,300 job vacancies, which was 59.7% of all job vacancies or 3.6 percentage points less than in the previous quarter. As regards employers with 10 or more persons in paid employment, the highest increase in job vacancies was recorded in transportation and storage (around 240 more than in the previous quarter).

How many employers advertise job vacancies

This survey covers employers with at least one person in paid employment, except companies with agriculture as their main activity. In the third quarter of 2017 the share of the companies with at least one advertised job vacancy was 20.7%; compared to the previous quarter it was higher by 1 percentage point. A good economic situation increases the number of job vacancies as well as the number of different employers seeking new candidates.

Job vacancy rate up by 0.1 of a percentage point

In the third quarter of 2017 the job vacancy rate was 2.3% and thus 0.1 of a percentage point higher than in the previous quarter. Compared to the same quarter of 2016 it increased by 0.6 of a percentage point. This time the job vacancy rate was the highest in construction (5.9%) and in accommodation and food service activities (5.3%).

Increased demand for new labour force - more occupied posts

Seasonally adjusted data show that the number of occupied posts has been increasing since the second quarter of 2014. In the third quarter of 2017 around 729,000 posts were occupied, around 4,600 more than in the previous quarter. Of all occupied posts 80.8% were at employers with 10 or more persons in paid employment.
Compared to the previous quarter the number of occupied post increased the most in manufacturing (by slightly more than 2,100) and in transportation and storage (by almost by 700).
