Exports and imports in July 2017 higher than in July 2016

Slovenia’s exports in the first seven months of 2017 amounted to EUR 16.3 billion, while imports amounted to EUR 15.8 billion.

Exports and imports in July 2017 higher than in July 2016

In July 2017 Slovenia exported goods worth EUR 2,334.3 million (a 12.9% increase compared to July 2016) and imported goods worth EUR 2,219.2 million (an 11.8% increase compared to July 2016). Compared to the average values of monthly exports and imports in 2016, in July 2017 the value of exports was 12.2% higher while the value of imports was 10.4% higher.

In July 2017 a surplus in trade in goods was recorded; it amounted to EUR 115.1 million, and the export/import ratio was 105.2%.

Exports to EU Member States and imports from them higher in July 2017 than in July 2016

In July 2017 Slovenia exported to EU Member States goods worth EUR 1,791.8 million (a 15.1% increase over July 2016), and imported goods worth EUR 1,758.1 million (an 11.3% increase over July 2016). In July 2017 a surplus in trade in goods was also recorded in trade with EU Member States; it amounted to EUR 33.7 million and was the highest since January 2016.

As regards trade with EU non-member countries, Slovenia exported goods worth EUR 542.5 million in July 2017 (a 6.2% increase compared to July 2016), and imported goods worth EUR 461.1 million (a 13.6% increase compared to July 2016). July’s surplus in trade in goods with EU non-member countries amounted to EUR 81.4 million and was lower than the average monthly surpluses in trade with those countries in the current year.

Slovenia’s exports in the January-July 2017 period amounted to EUR 16,254.2 million (an 11.7% increase compared to the same period of 2016), and imports amounted to EUR 15,758.3 million (a 13.7% increase compared to the same period of 2016). The external trade surplus in that period amounted to EUR 495.9 million and the export/import ratio was 103.1%.
