In June 2017 import prices were 0.8% lower than in the previous month and 2.5% higher than a year ago.
Import prices in June 2017 0.8% lower than in the previous month
Compared to May 2017, in June 2017 import prices were 0.8% lower. At the monthly level, the prices of products supplied from the euro area were also lower by 0.8%. The prices of products imported from the non-euro area have been falling since March 2017, in June 2017 they were lower by 0.9%.
As regards groups of activities showing the dynamics of prices by end-use, in June 2017 the prices in all groups went down. Energy prices decreased by 2.2%, intermediate goods prices by 0.9%, consumer goods prices by 0.7% and capital goods prices by 0.5%.
In June 2017 import prices decreased the most in the group wearing apparel (by 5.0%), followed by the group coke and refined petroleum products (by 3.3%). On the other hand, an increase was observed in the group electricity (by 2.0%).
Import prices 2.5% higher than a year ago
At the annual level import prices increased in June 2017 by 2.5%. In the same period the prices of products supplied from the euro area went up by 3.8% and the prices of products imported from the non-euro area by 1.0%.
The prices of imports increased noticeably in the group basic metals (by 16.3%) and decreased in the group textiles (by 2.1%).
