2.4 million Slovene mobile network users at the end of the 4th quarter of 2016


At the end of the 4th quarter of 2016 there were almost 530,000 IP telephony connections in Slovenia and over 588,000 broadband Internet connections.

Almost 2.4 million mobile network users
At the end of the 4th quarter of 2016 there were almost 2,386,000 mobile network users in Slovenia or 1% more than at the end of the 4th quarter of 2015. 77% of them were mobile network subscribers. Their number increased by 3% at the annual level.

8% more outgoing mobile traffic to international mobile networks
In the 4th quarter of 2016, almost 19 million hours of total outgoing traffic from Slovene mobile networks were recorded. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2015, the total outgoing traffic from mobile networks increased by 4%; national traffic increased by 4% as well. Outgoing mobile traffic to international mobile networks increased by 8%.

Higher increase in the number of SMSs and MMSs sent by business mobile network users
In the 4th quarter of 2016, almost 705 million SMS messages were sent, 2% more than in the 4th quarter of 2015. In the 4th quarter of 2016, over 17 million MMS messages were sent, 19% more than in the 4th quarter of 2015. The number of SMS and MMS messages increased the most by business users (by 17% and 32%, respectively).

Almost 530,000 VoIP telephone connections
In one year the number of classical telephone connections decreased by 16%, while the number of IP telephony connections increased by 4% to almost 530,000.

Over 588,000 broadband Internet connections
At the end of the 4th quarter of 2016 there were over 588,000 broadband Internet connections in Slovenia. The number was 3% higher than at the end of the 4th quarter of 2015. The number of xDSL connections decreased by 4%, while the number of optical fiber access connections increased at the annual level by 19%.
